DREAMS

Hold fast to dreams

For if dreams die

Life is a broken-winged bird

That cannot Flynn

.

Hold fast to dreams

For when dreams go

Life is a barren field

Frozen with snow.

Theme: Spirituality

The poem 'Dreams' advises readers to hold on to their dreams and goals because life would be gloomy and hopeless without them. Langston Hughes supported equality, criticized racism and injustice, and embraced African American culture, comedy, and spirituality via his poems, novels, plays, essays, and children's books. The words that hit my heart are "Life is a broken-winged bird, that cannot fly."  No dreams, no possibilities, no opportunities leading to greater society differences. The actual growth of the society is realization of individual dreams.
